My Spider-Noir spoilers free opinion?
Very Spider… Very Noir… Very Good. Binged all episodes because it was so good I didn’t want to take any breaks.
“I didn’t watch Spider-Noir in color because it’s Noir, it’s supposed to be black and white.”
Noir is a genre not a color scheme. It’s every bit as valid for the show to have been in color as black and white. It nailed Noir themes very well and wasn’t any less of Noir for being in color.
My favorite Noir movie is Bladerunner Final Cut. It’s not black and white, made in the ancient past, just more recent past, and its science fiction and cyberpunk. Yet its Noir influences are clear.

I watched Spider-Noir in both color and black and white, and if you asked me which I preferred, I’d say both. In color it was beautiful and in black and white it was beautiful. Color, you could, well, see color. You could see details that didn’t appear in black and white and they did an amazing job with the art style. But, black and white showed off the lighting, texture, contrast and, to me, highlighted the actors’ expressivness. Both black and white and color have their merits.
Spider-Noir in black and white or color?
Both. Both is good. It’s Noir in both. It’s Spider in both. It’s great in both.
