I’m an artist against Generative AI.
I’m also a fighter.
I’m seeing very defeatist attitudes from some of my fellow artists. Like, a post on an Anti Generative AI Facebook group about how someone is giving up on digital art because of Gen AI.
That’s exactly what the Gen AI users want.
They want you to give up.
They want you to stop creating art.
Gen AI users have proven time and again that they don’t give a shit about us. Cara being scraped at least three times by them proves that. Cara was set up as a haven against Generative AI, and they scraped it without asking permission or consent. They’re assholes, clearly.
Not the kind of people I’d want to win. Their behavior makes me mad.
Mad enough to fight back.
I’m still going to be making art and sharing it online.
I’m running it through Nightshade to try to poison Gen AI if they put it into it after I specifically told them not to. I’ve decided that no one gets to see my pure unfiltered art from now on without paying me for the privilege in some way. But, that’s just me.
I saw someone else complain that Nightshade is AI. It’s an AI tool. It’s designed to poison Gen AI. It’s not Gen AI. I’m against Gen AI, not all AI.
We can fight back. Don’t give up, don’t give in. To quote Galaxy Quest, never give up, never surrender.
If artists stop posting online then all that’s online will be AI slop. I don’t want to live in that kind of world.
